Team Rubicon

Team Rubicon Disaster Response matches the skills and experience of military veterans with those of first responders, bringing immediate relief to local and international communities impacted by humanitarian crises or large-scale disasters.

Founded in 2010, Team Rubicon has deployed thousands of “Greyshirts,” volunteers willing to “cross the Rubicon” and face such challenges, whether in the United States or around the world.

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Team Rubicon’s funding comes primarily from individual donors, corporations, foundations, trusts, and businesses. Their stated goal is to become “the greatest disaster response organization in the world.”

Veterans PATH

Veteran’s PATH provides support and community to American military men and women as they reintegrate into family and civilian life.

Through a combination of traditional meditation techniques and the latest understanding of neuroplasticity, Veteran’s PATH offers high-quality, veteran-specific mindfulness training and support to build inner strength and resilience, with the goal of helping every veteran lead a purposeful and fulfilling life.

Nicholas, a veteran of combat in Iraq put it this way. ”I left the military with an abundance of anger, despair, and resentment. Veteran’s PATH helped me shift my life into a direction of compassion, acceptance, and peace.”

Veteran Surf Alliance

Veteran Surf Alliance is a Santa Cruz-based nonprofit that aids veterans in the transition between military and civilian life by teaching, coaching and mentoring them to surf. In providing fellowship and community with fellow veterans, the VSA leads them to find the camaraderie they may now miss after having left military service.

Nick, an Army Purple Heart Recipient said, “I am able to interact with veterans who I serve with. I am able to heal my issues in the ocean. The ocean gives me the opportunity to express myself in a manner that I have never found possible on dry land. Access to the oceans provided by the VSA has helped me learn how to readjust and surf through the challenges of life and overcome injuries.”
